Write Yellow

the yolk like expectation; write separation
as metaphor.  Two can be more useful than one.

Write divide.  Write discrete.  Write an egg
so obvious: an island encircled by the viscous sea,

calcium reef; write core, mantle, crust.
Write the anticipated breaking

or cracking on the bowl’s hard rim.
Write the sentimental chicken mourning,

write the motif of grief.
Write then, of stars and the moon

so round, write to procedure; write
I am so lonely without you.

O, the past of least resistance.
